| Phils WM Diary, Part 5 |

We had an opportunity today to accomplish something really special, but we let it get away from us. We lost to Mexico 22-15. It was a very physical game and I was very impressed how we went toe to toe with them without blinking. The Mexican team had more team speed which made a big difference. I , personally , didn’t really appreciate the way they played, but we were expecting their ‘style’ of play and handled it with great discipline.
It’s tough losing games in which everyone knows it was yours for the taking. But that’s the way it goes with this great sport of ours. To beat the better teams in this game, you must take advantage of the opportunities presented to you. When opportunity knocks you need to open the door. I saw some outstanding efforts from our offensive line who when we needed to establish a run game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters they got it done and when we needed to throw the ball they supplied excellent protection. In the extremely short time they have been together they have become a very close working unit.
We got pretty banged up in this game, but we have an excellent support staff that works endlessly to get repair the aches and pains. I look forward to seeing how this team will recover from a tough loss because in less than 43 hours we have the Americans docking on our door.
