Why The Cowboys Are #1

In this moment, the Munich Cowboys are 5 - 0 , and in first place in the 2nd Liga South.

This is an achievement that is above and beyond the expectations and predictions for the Cowboys in 2007.

A successful team is a mix of offense and defense and kicking. The goal of the defense is to stop the other team from scoring. The Cowboys are #1 in team scoring defense in all of the 2nd Liga, both south and north.

On offense, in American football, most of the press and publicity goes to the players who score the points, and gain the yards. We write and read about quarterbacks Travis Harvey and Gary Lautenschlager,, and running backs Jerome Morris and Dominique Kandolo, and receivers Pascal Maier and Andy Korzenietz. When a team has many players who are successful statistically, there is a reason behind this offensive production : the offensive line.

The biggest improvement in the Cowboys this year is in the offensive line. They work as a group; and when they do get credit or praise, it is normally as a group ( "the offensive line"). We do not read their individual names. But it is these players who are the difference between a good team and a great team.

So today, I want all the Cowboys fans and followers to take a moment to recognize and acknowledge these individual players who are the engine that drives the train : Max Wimmer (#50), Andreas 'Gummi' Brunner (#52), Florian Zach (#63), Michael Michel (#66), (Tobi Spigner (#67), Peter 'Preacher' Podmaniczky (#75). Another important part of the offensive production group are the tight ends Pierre Hollander (#17) and Chris Roschmann (#44), and the fullbacks: Markus Schuster (#9) and Bela Podmaniczky (#32). Also important to this achievement, is the coach of the offensive line, Wolfgang Hartung.

Today, in Dante Stadion, when a Cowboy player crosses the goal line, and we hear the loud and proud " touchdown … Munich Cowboys ! " , it is not only the player who scored the TD, but the names above, the offensive lineman, who made that touchdown
